" I was riding 7 hours north of Montreal, in the Saguenay region with a couple of buddies, between 19th-24th April (2 weeks ago) and was lucky enough to see possibly a 2008 proto-type. Actually there were two test machines and one of them we got to see briefly on the lake. It was very weird looking and VERY fast, it had a black body with a giant X stripe on the side panel. It was escorted by a REV 800X and when they saw us racing towards them (we were tipped off about the tests) they booked and fast, they had rented a cottage on the lake with a garage and would quickly make this thing disappear. It litteraly left the 800 behind like a Mini z! Rumors were it was the new Mach and the speed definitely confirmed this. It looks like nothing else I've seen and when we surprised the engineers when they were loading these things in the trailer, they just kind of laughed it off by saying "What prototypes? There's nothing in the trailer of importance". However, they did say that "what we didn't see" is again at least 3-4 years ahead of ANYTHING the competition has. This would correspond with the discussion we had a year or so ago with some BRP engineers in Cabano, where they really beat the %&%? out of these things. I'd say the closest description I could give of this prototype is it would be the result of mating a RT chassis with the RF platform. Kind of funky looking like the new Phazer. Definitely two stroke, I can guarantee you the look will be just as shocking as when we first saw the REV in 02-03. The engineers played the cloak and dagger routine pretty well. They explained that they were indeed fine tuning the 08 model of whatever it was we saw. That's all they would confirm. We know that they were about a dozen engineers, mostly motor, track and suspension gurus. The pick-up hauling the trailer was overflowing with tracks, they confirmed that they were doing top end performance tests and were trying to get the top speed - handling ratio down. Wish we had a bit more time to smooth talk them as we may have gotten a few more tidbits out of them, however when the actual week-end came around they left as they mentioned too many people had already seen these things. Sorry guys, tried to get them to confirm the 900 +/- cc DI using a 100:1 oil ratio. They just kind of all looked at each other and looked back at me and said "You won't be disappointed". I'll let you decide what that might have meant. These guys are engineers, not people persons, so it's quite difficult to strike up a conversation in a short period of time. I'm lucky enough to ride 9000-11 000km a year so we get to see a lot and speak a lot to these guys. Keep your eyes open guys, they're out there in the trails all the time! If you come riding in Quebec, they're out there trying to blend in. Here in Quebec, we were lucky enough to see the 03 Rev in the trails in 02. I'm sure we'll get to see something starting in January 07. I'll keep my camera close and see if we can snap some pics! " Ike

Dootalkissa oli tommonen kiuaskin: "Here is pic of Petronas 987 cc 3 cylinder 4 stroke that produces in excess of 200 HP. Maybe this will be in the new Skidoo by 2008. BRP entered in an agreement with Petronas to develop a new high performance line of 4 strokes to be built by Rotax in Austria."
